Abstract

Padang city as a city which is also the capital of West Sumatra province, has a lot of tourism potential that has not been fully utilized. In accordance with Article 4 of Law No. 10 Year 2009 concerning tourism, tourism is one of the goals; improving welfare and economic growth. Tourism in the city of Padang is under the management of the Department of Culture and Tourism. Issues discussed, 1) How are the tasks and functions of the Department of Culture and Tourism? 2) What are the constraints faced by the Department of Culture and Tourism? 3) What are the efforts of the Department of Culture and Tourism in the city of Padang increase revenue? Answering the above problems, use methods of sociological research, using primary data as the source data. The results of the study and discussion of the problems studied are; 1) Department of Culture and Tourism as the executor has the role of regional autonomy, namely, a) Collection of data management and control of established data base and data analysis for the preparation of the program of activities. b) strategic planning at the Department of Culture and Tourism. 2) Constraints faced by the Department of Tourism in Kebudayan and increase revenue of Padang is, a) The absence of provision of facilities and infrastructure. b) Attractions Bungus managed ole community. 3) Efforts by the Department of Culture and Tourism to increase revenue desert town, a) support the Mayor of Padang. b) complete the facilities and infrastructure.
