Abstrak

This study is based on the low learning outcomes of students. This is due to the lack of interest of students in paying attention to learning. This research is based on the low learning outcomes of students. This study aims to determine differences in learning outcomes of Indonesian students' cognitive learning strategies between Directed Reading Activity with conventional methods in class IV SD Negeri 34 Air Pacah Koto Tangah Padang. The theory used in this research is the theory put forward byTarigan (2008) about reading as language skill and by using Directed Reading Activity learning strategy proposed by Eanes (2011). The type of this research is experimental research. The population in this study are students of class IV A and IV B with number of students 49 students. side. Determination of sampling control class. Datayang collected in the form of learning result Indonesian language. Data collection techniques in this study using the test. The test used is an objective test. Data obtained from statistical T test. Result of study result of student cognitive aspect Indonesian student show average score result of learning of Indonesian in experiment class that is equal to 83,54 and control class that is 73,4. Hypothesis testing using t-test showstcount >ttable, with tcount value of 2.67 and value ttable2,027 at significant level significant 0,05 thus hypothesis acceptable. Based on the result of this research, it can be concluded that there are significant differences of cognitive learning result of Indonesian students of experimental class and control class. Students' cognitive learning outcomes using the Directed Reading Activity learning strategy are better than those using conventional learning models. Keywords: Directed Reading Activity (DRA) Strategy, Learning Outcomes, Language Indonesia.
