Abstrak

This research is based on the low ability to read the understanding of fourth grade students in Indonesian language learning. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the use of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition model can improve students' reading comprehension in finding the main sentence, finding key ideas and answering questions, and reading comprehension skills on learning Indonesian. This type of research is a classroom action research with the subject of the study is the fourth grade students of SDN 35 Pesisir Selatan, amounting to 22 people. The instrument of this research is observation sheet of teacher activity, observation sheet of students comprehension ability reading and student learning result test. Based on the observation sheet of students reading comprehension ability, it is found that the average percentage of reading comprehension activity found the main sentence in cycle I 50% while in cycle II 72,05%, found the main idea and answer the question in cycle I 47,36% while in cycle II 72.05%. And reading comprehension skill in cycle I 63,15% while in cycle II 72,05%. Based on the result of student learning test, it is found that the average reading ability of students in cycle I 54,75 and average cycle II 80,26. From the improvement of research result in cycle I and cycle II mean the target of learning achievement in this research is successful and the implementation of Indonesian Language learning with Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition model is going well.
