Abstract
This research is backgrounded by, there are still many students who are less able to write essays, learning is still centered on the teacher (teacher center) so that discussions with friends less than done. Most students find it difficult to write descriptions, as evidenced by the inability of students to convey ideas, opinions, ideas, and experiences about the object to be described. Student learning outcomes are still less satisfactory, and the learning model is still not optimal. This study aims to describe the difference of students' learning achievement taught using a constructivism approach with students taught not using constructivism or direct learning approach. Suparno (2011: 13) explains that "Writing is the activity of delivering messages in written communication involving the author as a messenger, and the reader as the recipient of the message". Sagala (2008: 88) "Constructivism (constructivism) is the foundation of the philosophy of a contextual approach, that is, knowledge is built piecemeal, whose results are extended through a narrow and not abrupt context." The method used in this research is experimental method. Data collection techniques in this study using the test, hypothesis test in this study using the formula t-test which preceded by the prerequisite analysis test using normality test and homogeneity test. The results showed that there is a positive and significant influence of learning using constructivism approach to the skills of writing the description of students on the subjects of Indonesian in grade IV SDN 48 Ganting Kota Padang. Â This is evidenced from the results of t-test with a significant level of 5% (0.05) obtained tcount (2.93049)> ttable t table (1.67793). The result of the skill of writing the description of the students of Indonesian subjects obtained by the experimental group is higher than the control group, shown from mean 74.13 and the mean obtained by the control group of 68.00. Because >Â it can be concluded that by using constructivime approach is better than not using approach of Constructivism in skill of writing description in class IV SDN 48 Ganting of Padang City year lesson 2016/2017
