 ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to describe the increase in activity and learning outcomes of science class IV students using Word Square model in Elementary School 08 SurauGadang. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is implemented in two cycles. The subject of this research is the fourth grade students of SDN 08 SurauGadang, which amounts to 14 people. Based on the result of research, the average percentage of students activity expressed an opinion increase from cycle I 49.95% increased to 74.95% in cycle II. While affective aspect of student responsibility aspect with the percentage of completeness 66,28% in cycle I, increased to 89,06% in cycle II. While the students' learning outcomes on cognitive aspects with the percentage of completeness cycle I 65.7%, increased 75.71% in cycle II. Thus it can be concluded that the activity and learning outcomes of students using Word Square model can be increased, so researchers can give suggestions to use Word Square model in improving the activity and learning outcomes of students.
