THE INFLUENCE OF IMPLEMENTATION OF WORD SQUARE MODEL ON LEARNING OUTCOMES OF CIVICS OF GRADE V AT SD NEGERI 54 ANAK AIR KOTA PADANG
Abstrak
This research is motivated by the lack of interest of students in learning Civics. In the process of learning Civics teachers using lecture methods, question and answer, assignment, using the media books, whiteboard, and teachers are still fixated on a single source of learning, this resulted in less enjoyable learning for students. Students pay less attention to the teacher and talk to their seak friends, only a small percentage of students are able to answer the questions given by the teacher, when the teacher asks to ask if anyone has not understood, the students are silent and no students appear to show up. Learning outcomes have an important role in the learning process. For that teachers have to design and choose a model of learning that can affect student learning outcomes better. One of the learning models that are expected to influence student learning outcomes is better is the Word Square learning model. According to Istarani, (2012: 181, Word Square model is a learning model that uses boxes in the form of crossword puzzles as a tool in delivering teaching materials in teaching and learning process.This study aims to determine the effect of the application of Word Square model to the learning outcomes of cognitive The level of C1 (knowledge) and C2 (understanding) on the learning of Civics of grade V students in SD Negeri 54 Anak Air Kota Padang The research method used is experiment.The population in this study is all students / class V students as much as 57 people, Using Saturated Sampling The experimental class is class VB while the control class is VA.In this study, the instrument used is a test instrument.Performance analysis is done by normality test, homogeneity, and hypothesis with the help of SPSS software version 17. The results of the class research that applied the model Word Square has an average of 81.07 final test results and classes that apply pe Conventional lecturing with lecture method has the average of final test result 75,52 and result of hypothesis test obtained is 0,042 <significance level 0,05 meaning H0 is rejected. So it can be concluded that there is an influence on the results of learning Civics grade V students in the cognitive domain level C1 (knowledge) and C2 (understanding) by applying the Word Square model.
