ABSTRACT
This research is based on the lack of interest in reading students which resulted in a low value of learning result of reading students in learning Indonesian language. And the delivery of material done by teachers too fast and less interesting, so that makes students feel bored and less understanding of material that has been submitted by the teacher. Teachers are also only on conventional models and make students feel bored when doing learning activities. This study aims to describe differences in learning outcomes of reading students by using Inquiry learning model with students who are taught by conventional learning methods. Taufina (2016: 155), explains that memabaca is an interaction process of understanding the symbol of language through various strategies to understand from the written, involving visual activity, thinking, psycholiginguistic and metacognitive. In addition it reads an encoding process and a password reader, in contrast to speech and writing that actually involves encoding. Kunandar (in Shohimin 2014: 85) says that Inquiry learning is a learning activity in which students are encouraged to learn through their own active engagement with concepts and principles and teachers encourage students to have experience and conduct experiments that allow students to discover the principles of learning. Principle for themselves. The method used in this research is experimental method. Data analysis used normality test, homogeneity test and mean difference test (t test). Can be seen t count of 3.19 and ttable value of 1.67, then 3.19> 1.67 so the hypothesis is rejected and accepted. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the use of Inquiry learning model on the learning outcomes of reading the fourth grade students of SDN 38 Lubuk Buaya Kecamatan Koto Tangah Padang with the experimental class learning result 75.48 and control class 68, 79. Then it can be concluded that the learning result reading Students using Inkuiri model better than the result of learning to read the students by using conventional method in grade 4 students of SDN 38N Lubuk Buaya Kecamatan Koto Tangah Padang.
