PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN KOMUNIKASI DAN HASIL BELAJAR SISWA PADA PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA KELAS V SD PLUS MARHAMAH TABING PADANG DENGAN METODE DISKUSI KELAS

Abstrak

 

       This research is motivated by the lack of communication skills and learning outcomes in the learning of mathematics of students of class V in SD Plus Marhamah Tabing Padang. The purposes of this research are to describe the improvement of: (1) communication ability of class V students in presenting mathematical statement, (2) communication ability of student in presenting allegation, (3) communication ability of class V students in drawing conclusion, and (4) cognitive learning outcomes of class V students in mathematics learning. The theories used as reference are about communication by Suparno, (2001: 135), about learning outcomes by Hamid (2010:175) and about discussion by Suryobroto (in Trianto, 2010: 122). This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted in the first semester of 2015/2016 in SD Plus Marhamah Tabing Padang. Subjects in this study were students of grade V SD Plus Marhamah Tabing Padang, which amounted to 20 students. This research consisted of two cycles i.e. cycle I in twice meetings and cycle II in twice meetings. The research procedure is done through four stages: (1) planning, (2) implementation, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. The research instrument used is observation sheet of student communication ability, observation sheet of teacher activity, and test of student cognitive learning result. Based on the result of the research, it is known that the percentage of students' communication ability in presenting mathematical statement in cycle I 34.5% increased to 74% in cycle II, the percentage of communication ability of students in proposing allegations in cycle I 25% increased to 69.5% in cycle II, students' communication skills in drawing conclusions in cycle I 27.5% increased to 74% in cycle II. The percentage of cognitive mathematics learning outcomes in cycle I 40% increased to 90% in cycle II. From the results of this study can be concluded in the learning of mathematics by using the method of Class Discussion in SD plus Marhamah Tabing Padang can improve communication skills and student learning outcomes.
