Abstrak

SUMMARY

One of the factors causing the low percentage of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics is the lack of motivation and the process of learning mathematics is still centered on the teacher. Some of the teaching models have been applied by teachers, one of which is group discussion, but group sharing that randomly results in less effective group work. To improve the situation, the researcher tried to do research with the title "Application of Cooperative Learning Model Numbered Heads Together Type in Mathematics Learning of Grade VIII SMPN 3 Padang".

The purpose of this study is to determine the results of learning mathematics students learning using cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together in class VIII SMPN 3 Padang.

The question asked in this research is whether the result of learning mathematics of students whose learning using cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together in class VIII SMPN 3 Padang. The hypothesis proposed is the result of learning mathematics learning using cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together better than the results of learning mathematics learning using ordinary learning in class VIII SMPN 3 Padang.

The type of research used is experimental research. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMPN 3 Padang year lesson 2016/2017. The sample in this research is class VIII 5 of 35 people as experimental class and class VIII 3 as many as 34 people as control class.

Based on the result of data analysis of students' end test, both sample classes are normal and homogeneous distributed. So to test the hypothesis used t test. After processing the data obtained  = 4.29 and = 1.67 at 95% confidence level, so . Thus, the hypothesis that is accepted is the result of learning mathematics students with the application of cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together better than the results of learning mathematics students with ordinary learning in grade VIII SMPN 3 Padang.

Based on the results of this study, researchers expect teachers in the field of mathematics studies can apply cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together as one alternative to improve student learning outcomes mathematics.
