Abstrak

SUMMARY

 

               The low learning outcome of mathematics student of class VII SMPN 29 Padang caused by several factors that is learning process still concentrated in teacher, student activity in learning process still less and student is reluctant to ask to teacher if found obstacle in solving practice problem so student difficult to do practice . To solve the problem one of the efforts that can be done is to apply the Active Learning strategy type The Power Of Two.

               The purpose of this study was to compare students' mathematics learning outcomes after implementing the Active Learning strategy type The Power Of Two with mathematics learning outcomes of students applying regular learning in grade VII SMPN 29 Padang. The hypothesis proposed is the result of learning mathematics of students by applying the Active Learning strategy type The Power Of Two better than the result of learning mathematics of students by applying the usual learning to the students of class VII SMPN 29 Padang.               The type of research conducted is experimental research. The population of this study is all students of class VII SMPN 29 Padang year lesson 2016/2017. Sampling was done randomly so that elected class VII.7 as many as 35 students as experimental class and class VII.8 of 32 students as control class. Data collection using learning result test is a description test.               Based on the data of the students' learning outcomes in the two sample classes, after hypothesis testing with the formula t-test at the 0.05 level of confidence obtained P = 0,000 <0.05 then the hypothesis proposed accepted. So it can be concluded that the result of learning mathematics of students whose learning apply the Active Learning strategy type The Power Of Two is better than the result of learning mathematics of students whose learning apply ordinary learning, and researcher suggest that math teacher can apply this learning strategy as one of alternative to improve result Student learning.
