ANALISIS KESULITAN SISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL TENTANG HIMPUNAN KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 10 PADANG

Abstrak

SUMMARY

            This research is based on the fact that many students have difficulty in solving the problem about the set. In addition, the value of the odd semester exam of students of grade VII of SMP Negeri 10 Padang in academic year 2016/2017 is still under Minimal Achievement Standard. For that we need to analyze the difficulties experienced by students. The purpose of this study is to analyze the difficulties experienced by students in grade VII SMP Negeri 10 Padang in solving the problem set.

            This research is a descriptive research and use qualitative research method. The study population is all students of class VII of SMP Negeri 10 Padang. Sampling using technique of proposive sampling and chosen class VII E as sample of research. The research instruments  diagnostic test and interview. Due to short school time then the authors only use intrument research diagnostic tests in the form of daily test questions and the author also can not interview the students who became the subject of the interview.

            The results of this study indicate that; 1) students who have difficulty in fact 87.1%; 2) students who experienced concept difficulties 58.06%; And 3) students who have difficulty principle of 93,55%.

            From the research results suggested that teachers should teach more focus on students' understanding of the material and pay attention to the prerequisite material that must be mastered by students before studying new material. In addition, teachers should also analyze the difficulties that are often experienced by students in solving problems so as to determine the appropriate steps to overcome these difficulties.
