This study is based on the number of students' cognitive learning outcomes under the Minimum Exhaustiveness Criteria (KKM). This is due to the material that should be using the experiment, the teacher only conveying the material to the students by using makeshift image media and illustrating on the blackboard, so that students only imagine and imagine, the students are not given the opportunity to explore their ability independently. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of experimental methods on the cognitive learning outcomes of knowledge and understanding aspects in the palace of science style material in class IV SDN 20 Dadok Tunggul Hitam Kota Padang. The theory used in this research is the theory of learning outcomes proposed by Slameto (2010) and Hamalik (2010), conventional learning theory proposed by Djamarah (2010), experimental method theory proposed by Abidin (2017) and the theory of style proposed by Sularmi (2009).

This type of research is experimental research. The subjects of the study were students of class IVA with the number of 28 students and class IV B with the number of 28 students. Instument of this research is the result of students' conformity learning result test.

Based on t test analysis of cognitive learning result show that t value = 4,789 and t table = 1,703 and significance value 0,000. Value t value greater than t table or significant value less than 0.05 then H0 rejected and H1 accepted means there is a significant difference post-test results experimental group with the control group.

From this research can be concluded that by using experiment method can improve result of cognitive learning result of student. Suggestions from the researcher is for teachers who want to apply the experimental method or to the next author, should do the division of the group with the combination of varied student abilities so that students can exchange knowledge and facilitate the task of providing counseling teachers.
