ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA DALAM MEMAHAMI DAN MENYELESAIKAN SOAL PERSAMAAN GARIS LURUS di KELAS VIII SMP Negeri 2 BATANG ANAI

Abstrak

This research is motivated because the students of grade VIII SMP Negeri 2 Batang Anai have not been able to develop their thinking ability well. This can be seen from the result of  daily test and the way of them in doing the some  assignments or tasks given. In completing the task, they often use the book as guid and just followed the solving written. So that, when the students were given differents from the book, they have difficulty to do it. The students are also satisfied with their work thought they are only using the one way or the usual way to solved it. These kind of learning understanding ways can be the inhibators for students to develop their critical thinking skills in solving their own problems.

               This type of this research is descriptive research using qualitative research method. The study population is all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Batang Anai. Sampling was based on purposive sampling technique and selected class VIII.7 as sample class. The research instruments are written test and interview.

               Know from the date collected, the students still make mistakes in interpreting, analyzing, evaluating, and even inference the test given. These were shown by the percentage of the students in the low category is reached 50%, while at the time of interview they say that thhe are able to answer or solve problems given. It can be happened because in interpeting, the sudents less precise in writing information of the problem even some of them do not write it at all. This makes the value of the phase does not exist. In doing calculation, the some students also make mistakes even if the strategy used is right. And att the time of writing calculation, the students still write it by not precisely because of the errors in the analysis and evaluation phase.

               The results showed that students in developing critical thinking skills are still not good to solve the problem of straight-line equation given. From the test results showed that the number of students who are at the level of critical thinking ability is low is 50% means that half of the students are still not able to perform the stage of interpretation, analysis, evaluation and inference, but from the results of interviews, some students have been able to do interpretation, evaluation and inference but they are still stored in their minds. This means that students are still unable to use their critical thinking skills well in terms of writing information, results or conclusions.
