Abstrak

Position is a role that someone has in a system, a person can have multiple positions because usually someone participated in several different systems (Sukanto and Sulisyiowati (2013: 210). Many phrase that symbolize the glorification of women's position in minangkabau culture, married women or mothers call by term Bundo Kanduang(Ibrahim (2015: 251-253). This research aimed to describe the position of women in Minangkabau based on Limpapeh's novel by A.R. Rizal, which consists of:position as limpapeh rumah nan gadang,position as amban puruak pagangan kunci,position as pusek jalo kumpulan tali,position as sumarak dalam nagari andposition asnan gadang basa batuah.

This research type is qualitative research by using descriptive method. The object of this study is the novel Limpapeh by AR Rizal, which in terms of sociology literature. Data collection techniques used in this study are: Reading Limpapeh's novel by A.R. Rizal carefully and understand it, in order to find the position of Minangkabau women contained in the novel. Marking and recording all data describing the position of women in Minangkabau. Grouping the collected data based on the data collection format.The instrument of this research is researcher herself as a key instrument, both in data collection and in data analysis, assisted by data recording format during the data collection process.

The results of this research indicate that the position of Minangkabau women in the novel Limpapeh by AR Rizal viewed through Mandeh figures, the data found amounted to 38 data: limpapeh rumah nan gadangfound as much as7 data, amban puruak pagangan kuncifound as much as 7 data, pusek jalo kumpulan talifound as much as15 data, sumarak dalam nagarifound as much as 7 data, andnan gadang basa batuahfound as much as2 data.

Based on research that has been done, it can be concluded that the novel Limpapeh by AR Rizal is a novel based on Minangkabau culture.Mandeh figure who is a Minangkabau woman as a role model,Mandeh figure as the regulator of tribal households.Based on these conclusions, it is suggested to other researchers, should understand more intensive novels to be analyzed, and for those who want to examine the same problems for other novels, can guide the technique or use other techniques in the discussion of sociology literature, especially sociology problem of literary works.
