The position of Women characters in the Novel Nayla Djenar Maesa Ayu's Work: A Study of Radical Feminism. " Thesis. Study Program of Education Indonesian Language and Literature, Department of Language and Arts Education, Bung Hatta University, Padang

Abstrak

novel photographed human life in which it ranged from sadness, happiness, tragedy and even comedy. In the novel Nayla describes the figure of female characters of different treatments that are different from women in general. Sexual trauma as a woman makes Nayla a teenager ruled by her desire to get the feelings she expects. The novel is a new prose that tells the story of the main perpetrator's life journey that contains conflict. Analyzed using the theories put forward by Emzir and Rohman in 2015.

           The type of research used in this study is qualitative research with descriptive method. Qualitative research is a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or oral words of people and observed behavior.

Based on the data analysis, the findings of this research are the position of female characters in Nayla novel with radical feminism study. There are 35 data, 9 data of women with job, 7 female data in patriarchy, and 19 female data in lesbianism.

           In line with the research findings discussed above, it can be concluded that the position of women in the novel is still experiencing bad treatment. The treatment ended after the main character came out as a woman living independently, and became a female figure of the night playing with men and even in love with women .. Based on the conclusions of this study suggested for: (1) For literary readers, can be useful for readers to understand the contents or messages conveyed by the author on the novel, (2) For students, research on the position of female characters to be investigated furthermore based on feminism studies, (3) Other researchers, can be useful to add insight in the field of literature that can be made as a motivator of life.
