Abstrak

Novel is a modern narrative fiction that flourished in the mid-18th century. The novel takes the form of a longer and more complex prose than the short story, which expresses something about the quality or value of human experience. The problems contained in the novel are derived from patterns of life known to man, or a set of life in an exotic and imaginative time and place. The novel creates an illusion of the actual reality or makes the fictional world artificial so that our attention is directed to an imaginative relationship between the problem or the theme of the novel and the real world we actually live in. Taylor was quoted by Atmazaki (2007: 40). To convey the problems that exist in the novel Moon Split in the Sky America by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra, researchers use language as a medium of delivery. To find out how to use the language style by the author as well as to see the characteristics or style of language in the novel, conducted research by focusing on the elements of the style of language. Therefore the title of this research is "Language Style in Novel of the Moon Split in the American Sky by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra.

Type of research used is qualitative research. Bodgan and Taylor in Moleong (2010: 4) said the qualitative methodology as a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or oral words of the observers and observable behavior.

Based on the analysis of the Moon Splitted in the Sky, we found the following results: (1) rhetorical language style of 70 data, including alliteration 1 data, apofasis 1 data, asindeton 8 data, euphemismus 3 data, lithotes 1 data, pleonasme 1 data, hyperbola 54 data and paradox 1 data. (2) figurative style languages 105 data, including the language style of equations or simile data 25, metaphor 4 data, personification 65 data, allus 4 data, epitet 3 data and sinekdoke 4 data. Based on both types of language style, then the amount of data found is as many as 175 data.

Thus, based on data analysis, it can be concluded that most of the language styles in the novel Moon Breaded in the Sky of America by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra use the style of personification language.
