Abstrak

This research is motivated by the lack of students' speaking skills and low learning outcomes of students in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in learning outcomes and student speaking skills through strategies Modeling the Way. The research method applied is the method of action research. The research instrument used in the study are students' speaking skills observation sheet, observation sheets and test activities teachers learning outcomes. Based on the results of research conducted in the fourth grade I-12 Kartika Padang, the use of Modeling the Way proven to improve learning outcomes and students' speaking skills. It can be seen from the average of students' speaking skills first cycle of 55.56% rising to 81.48% in the second cycle (25.92% increase). In addition, students' mastery of learning outcomes also increases seen from the results of the student's final test first cycle with an average percentage of completeness 55.56%, increased in the second cycle the average completeness 88.89% (25.92% increase). Based on this it can be said that The Way Modeling strategies to improve learning outcomes and students' speaking skills. Therefore, it is advisable for teachers to be able to use the strategies in implementing Modeling.
