THE IMPROVEMENT OF STUDENT LEARNING ACTIVITIES AT GRADE IV IN SOCIAL SCIENCE LEARNING BY USING THE METHOD OF INQUIRY AT SD NEGERI 02 TIMBALUN BUNGUS TELUK KABUNG DISTRICT PADANG

Abstrak

This research is based on a lowering of student activities. The learning the teachers implement tends to use the method of speech, so that the students are feeling bored in following the learning. The formulation of problem in this research is how to improve student learning activities in asking questions, responding to the questions and carrying out discussions in social science learning by the method inquiry. This research in class action one. The subjects of research are students of grade IV, amounting to 27 persons. The instrument of research are student activity observation sheet, teacher observation sheet, and cycle final test. The results of research show an improvementof student learning activities that the activity of asking question increases by 47%, from 22,57% in cycle I to 70,36 in cycle II. The activity of responding to the question raises 46,03 % from 26,42 % in cycle I to 72,45 % in cycle II. And the activity of making discussion improves by 39,10 % from 41.45 % in cycle I to 80,55% in cycle II. This means that the indicator targets of this research have been succesful and the implementation of social science learning with the method of inquiry is running well. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the method of inquiry can improve the activities of student learning at grade IV of SDN Timbalun, Bungus Distric, Teluk Kabung, Padang. From such conclusion, it is suggested for the teacher using this method in learning process.
