Abstrak

Education is an important factor in improving the quality of human resources and determining the level of progress of a nation. Quality education will certainly print quality human resources, so that the future generation will be able to compete in the era of globalization. However, on the contrary if the results of this educational process fail then it is difficult to imagine how a nation can achieve progress in the field of education. Natural Sciences (IPA) subjects are one of the main subjects in the education curriculum in Indonesia, including at the elementary school level. Susanto (2014: 167) explains "IPA is a human effort in understanding the universe through proper observation of targets, and using procedures, and explained by reasoning to get a conclusion".

This type of research is experimental research with the design "Pre-Experimental Design with the pattern of Intact-Group Comparison. The independent variable in this study is the application of the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) model while the dependent variable is the learning outcomes of science. The population of this study were all fourth grade students of SDN 04 Pancung Soal, Pesisir Selatan Regency, in the 2017/2018 school year. A total of 64 students were selected as samples determined by purposive sampling technique. The data analyzed in this study is the score of natural science learning outcomes in the cognitive domains collected through objective tests.

The results showed that there were differences in the application of the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) model in learning science in grade IV SDN 04 Pancung Soal, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This can be seen from the acquisition of the average value of the experimental class is higher than the acquisition of the average value of the control class (experiment = 76.3> control = 64.1). In the price statistical test (t count = 3.49> t table = 1.99) with the level (α = 0.05) the H1 hypothesis is accepted.

From these data it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between students' learning outcomes using the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) model and student learning outcomes using conventional methods at SD Negeri 04 Pancung Soal, Pesisir Selatan District. So that the model can be applied and developed to achieve better science learning outcomes in the school.
