The Relationship between Learning Style and Students' Attitudes to Biology Learning Outcomes of Students of Class XI Science at PGRI 1 Padang High School

Abstrak

This research was motivated when the learning process in class found diverse learning styles and attitudes of students, most of the students just sat quietly, listened to the explanations of the teacher, students whose sitting positions behind were just lazing and disrupting their peers, there were students who actively asked so involved directly in the learning process. Because students do not understand the style and attitude of their learning so that students have not been able to maximize it in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the relationship of learning styles and attitudes of students to the results of learning biology class XI science at SMA PGRI 1 Padang.       This type of research is descriptive. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPA with 75 students. There are two types of data, namely primary data obtained from questionnaires and secondary data in the form of student learning outcomes. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22. Learning styles and attitudes of students towards student biology learning outcomes were 0.908 at the 0.05 level (2-tailed). Learning style has a correlation value to the results of student biology learning that is 0.840 where the indicator has the highest correlation value to the learning outcomes of biology that is the learning style at home is 0.653 and the indicator that has the lowest correlation value is the audivisual learning style of 0.590. While the attitude of students has a correlation value to the learning outcomes of biology of 0.865 where the indicator has the highest correlation value, namely the attitude towards biological material that is 0.736 and the lowest correlation indicator is not there, but neutral is 0.644.       From this study it can be concluded that the relationship between learning styles and attitudes of students towards the learning outcomes of biology students of SMA PGRI 1 Padang has a very strong relationship to the results of student biology learning. The author's suggestion is that students should improve learning styles and learning attitudes so that their learning outcomes also increase.
