Language Style in Song Lyrics Themed Father and Relation to Father's Role

Abstrak

Although every author creates a work by taking one theme. However, each author has his own style in delivering the work he produces because the author has his own views and experiences in his life. For this reason, researchers are motivated to examine the work of different authors. The object of research is the song lyrics father-themed. The language style used in each father-themed song contains an impression of a different father so the researcher is motivated to examine the style of the language in the song lyrics with the theme of father and its relation to the role of father. The data of this research are father-themed songs with the object of language style study and the role of the father in the song. This study aims to describe: (1) the style of language contained in Indonesian song lyrics with the theme Father, (2) the role of father in Indonesian song lyrics with the theme Father.

The theory that is used as a reference in this research is the theory proposed by Keraf (2009) which divides which divides language style into two parts, namely rhetorical and figurative. Theories regarding the role of fathers were raised by Dagun (2013), Andayani and Koentjoro (2014) who divided the role of fathers in aspects of children's lives into three, namely; father's role in children's social relations, father's role in children's cognitive development, father's role in children's morality.

This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The research data are five Indonesian song lyrics with the theme Father and the object of the research is the style of the language and the role of the father in the lyrics of the father-themed song. Data analysis techniques are; (1) classifying the data that has been identified according to the style of language contained in Indonesian song lyrics with the theme of fathers using the following format, (2) classifying the role of fathers contained in the song, (3) outlining research findings, (4) concluding the results of the study , (5) make a report.

Based on the results of research conducted on five father's favorite song lyrics found the dominant language style is litotes language style and metaphoric language style, while the father's role in song lyrics is the closeness of social relations between children and fathers so that fathers can be an example for children to behave and acting in his life.

So, it can be concluded that the dominant language style, litotes language style and metaphor, and the role of father in song lyrics, there is a father's social relationship that is close to the child so that the father can be an example for children to behave and act.
