The politeness of speaking in Minangkabau is a variety of customs in Alua, adding the Sarato Ranah Minang by Bakri Bagindo Nan Sati

Abstrak

This study aims to describe the use of various indigenous Minangkabau-style politeness forms in Alua's book Addition of sarato Ranah Minang by Bakri Bagindo Nan Sati. The theory used as a reference in the research is the opinion expressed by Oktavianus and Revita (2013) on the principles of politeness in language and types of politeness in various indigenous Minangkabau languages. The principle of language politeness is divided into several categories, namely, maximal wisdom, acceptance, generosity, humility, compatibility, conclusiveness. While the form of the type of politeness in Minangkabau in various customs, namely, politeness asks, refuses, asks, promises, approves, and praises.

This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The data of this research are words that can be formulated as politeness in various indigenous Minangkabau languages. Data analysis techniques were carried out through the following stages, (1) identifying data, (2) classifying data, (3) describing data, (4) concluding the results of the study.

Based on data analysis and discussion, the following are found. First, politeness requires 16 data to be found which contain nine principles of politeness, maxim of mercy, 8 maxims of wisdom, 3 maxims of humility, 2 maxims of compatibility. Secondly, refusal of politeness is found in the 5-fold pasambah dialog that contains only 1 maxim of wisdom, 3 maxims of humility, 3 maxims of acceptance. Third, asking politeness was found as many as 11 data containing 11 maxims of generosity. Fourth, politeness promised to find 11 data containing 11 maxims of generosity. Fifth, politeness agreed to be found as much as 1 data containing 1 principle of politeness, maximal wisdom. Sixth, complimenting politeness was found as many as 9 data which contained 9 principles of politeness maximal acceptance.

It was concluded that the use of language politeness in Alua's book Addition of Sarato Ranah Minang by Bakri Bagindo Nan Sati had been used politely in various indigenous Minangkabau languages. The author did not find any form of violation of the principles of politeness or politeness in the Minangkabau language of various customs in the dialogues of the speech of Alek and Pangka Alua's book.
