Abstrak

This research is motivated by the lack of activity and poor learning outcomes in mathematics fifth grade students of SDN 20 Kurao Pagang. This is due to the learning process that is centered on the teachers and the teachers are more likely to maximize the function of the left brain. Teachers do not maximize the work function of the right brain. One way that can be used to overcome this problem is to use brain-based learning approach. The purpose of this study was to describe the result of increased activity and fifth grade students learn math through brain based learning approach in SDN 20 Kurao Pagang. Type of research is a class act. The research was conducted in two cycles. Subjects of this study were fifth grade students of SDN 20 Kurao Pagang totaling 17 people. The research instrument used in this study is the observation sheet teacher activities, student activities and student mathematics achievement test. The results showed that an increase in the activity of student learning from the first cycle is 55.77% increase in cycle II to 76.42 and completeness of students' mathematics learning outcomes siklusi I is 52.9% increase in cycle II to 82.4%. It can be concluded that the activity and results of fifth grade students' mathematics learning can be enhanced through brain based learning approach in SDN 20 Kurao Pagang.
