Design of Android-Based Computer Network E-Dictionary Application. Information and Computer Engineering Education

Abstrak

Information technology, especially computers and smartphones, has developed very rapidly and has been attached to people's lives. At present the computer is not only used by programmers but is also used by laymen. Computer development will always be an interesting topic to be discussed, examined and studied. Talking about computer development cannot be separated from the use of a number of computer terms, especially the term on computer network material. In line with the development of existing technology, we are required to be able to adapt to these developments. the author makes observations can be obtained the picture there are still many students who do not know the terms of the computer network during lectures. For this reason, a dictionary of computer networks is needed, so that it can facilitate students in understanding the word meanings of computer network language terms.

Research conducted by this author applies a research and design that produces new products in the form of android-based computer network e-dictionary applications. The system design model that I use is the Waterfall Model or often referred to as the waterfall model. The WaterFall model is chosen because the process is regular. Then, the system development document is very organized, because each stage must be completed completely before going to the next stage.

In carrying out an implementation, it is necessary to make a computer program. Making computer programs is designing interfaces and writing program code in accordance with the system that has been designed. Based on the system model, the author makes this dictionary based on web using PHP while the user interface is designed using the Sketchware application and the term storage media has not used a database. The application that has been designed consists of 3 (two) actors, namely admin and user or application user.

So it can be concluded that an Android-based computer network E-dictionary application has been produced. It is expected that by using this E-dictionary application the process of word search will be faster and more precise. This E-dictionary application can be implemented on Android-based version 5.0 and above. This dictionary application is still in the form of a trial phase.
