The Application of Open Ended Learning in Mathematics Learning to 5th Grade Students in State Elementary School 22 Duku Koto XI Tarusan District Pesisir Selatan Regency
Abstrak
School is one of many centers of teaching and learning activities. Therefore, school is a place to improve the learning result of the students. Teaching and learning activities need creativity both from teachers and students. Based on the result of the observation of class VA in State Elementary School 22 Duku, it is found that students’ creativity in learning mathematics is still low and the learning result of mathematics from many students is still under KKM. The effort conducted by the researcher to solve the problems is applying the Open Ended Learning approach in the process of mathematics learning.
The type of this research is experimental research with all 5th grade students of  State Elementary School 22 Duku 2017/2018 school year as the population. The sample of this research is the students from class VA dan VB in State Elementary School 22 Duku. The sampling technique is obtained by conducting total sampling, class VA as the experimental class and class VB as the control class. The analyzed data of this research is students’s learning creativity and the scores of students’ mathematics learning result.
The result of this research shows that the development of students’ creativity is quite good with the percentage 33,33%. The average of learning result in experimental class is 74,32, while the average score of control class is 62,27. The analysis of mathematics learning result using test-t shows that the result of means that . Therefore, hyphothesis H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected.
Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the students’ mathematics learning result using Open Ended Learning approach is better than the students’ learning result without using the Open Ended Learning in class V of State Elementary School 22 Duku. It is expected that this approach can be applied to mathematics subject to improve the result of  students’ learning to be more optimal.
