Social Conflict in the Novel Mahar Cinta Gandoriah Karya Mardhiyan Novita M.Z

Abstrak

Social conflict is a problem that comes from a conflict within the community. Differences of opinion, contradictions, discrepancies towards a thing that triggers conflict in the community. Conflict does not only occur at the level of the environment but also within the individual itself. The conflict starts from within the individual will affect the surrounding environment such as the family environment. This study aims to describe: (1) forms of social conflict in the novel Mahar Cinta Gandoriah by Mardhiyan Novia M.Z (2) causes of social conflict in the novel Mahar Cinta Gandoriah by Mardhiyan Novita M.Z. and (3) how to resolve social conflicts in the novel Mahar Cinta Gandoriah by Mardhiyan Novita M.Z.

 Theory that is used as a reference in research is the elements of the novel according to Nurgiyantoro (2010), the form, causes, and ways of solving social conflicts, namely the theory put forward by Ahmadi and Soekanto. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The source of the data in the study was the novel Mahar Cinta Gandoriah by Mardhiyan Novita M.Z, while the object of research was a social conflict in the novel Mahar Cinta Gandoriah by Mardhiyan Novita M.Z.

Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, the following were found: first, the forms of individual social conflict with the Sahara felt pressured by the pressure from their environment to get married, the conflict between the individual and the family environment, the Sahara did not accept the Mak Yun attitude suddenly came forcing him to get married and disagree with Mak Yun about the total money lost and money lost, individual conflicts with the community environment namely the Sahara disagreed with the use of lost money and money in his area. Secondly, the cause of social conflict is that the Sahara is urged to get married immediately from their environment and the insistence from Mak Yun to obey the customary rules and traditions that have been in his marriage later. Settlement of social conflict is by way of Elimination, the Sahara accepts with a feeling of be resentful because of the compulsion of Mak Yun, family, and friends.

Thus, it was concluded that the Sahara experienced social conflicts with themselves, family, and society. The conflict came to him to get married soon. Whereas in this case there is no readiness to get married to the Sahara. This habit is no longer appropriate with the current situation.
