Social Value in Kaba Angku Kapalo Sitalang Darwis Version Sinaro and Dt. Basa Caniago and Kaba Sutan Lembak Tuah Version of Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah An Overview of Sociology of Literature

Abstrak

Kaba is a rhythmic prose story, in the form of narration (narrative), and is classified as a long story, kaba including traditional literature which is inherited from generation to generation and delivered through oral, there are times when the delivery is accompanied by musical instruments such as saluang and rebab. Besides being entertaining, there is also advice in kaba because in kaba there are many cultural values and moral education.

The purpose of this study was to describe (1) the description of characterization, plot, setting, and theme of Kaba Angku Kapalo Sitalang version of Darwis St. Sinaro and Dt. Basa Caniago and Kaba Sutan Lembak Tuah versions of Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah, (2) a description of the social values in the Kaba Angku Kapalo Sitalang version of Darwis St. Sinaro and Dt. Basa Caniago and Kaba Sutan Lembak Tuah versions of Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah, (3) comparison of social values in the Kaba Angku Kapalo Sitalang version of Darwis St. Sinaro and Dt. Basa Caniago and Kaba Sutan Lembak Tuah versions of Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah. Data collection techniques used are: (1) reading and understanding carefully the Kaba Angku Kapalo Sitalang version of Darwis St. Sinaro and Dt. Basa Caniago and Kaba Sutan Lembak Tuah versions of Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah with the aim of getting a better understanding, (2) marking the parts of the story related to social values in it, (3) recording the data found in Kaba Angku Kapalo Sitalang and Kaba Sutan Lembak Tuah which are related to social values, and (4) translating all data from Minangkabau into Indonesian. This study uses data analysis techniques, namely: (1) grouping data that has been collected according to the aspects studied (2) analyzing data about social values obtained from grouping data according to intrinsic and extrinsic elements in Kaba Angku Kapalo Sitalang version of Darwis St. Sinaro and Dt. Basa Caniago and Kaba Sutan Lembak Tuah versions of Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah. (3) formulating conclusions from the results of the analysis of research based on intrinsic and extrinsic elements in the Kaba Angku Kapalo Sitalang version of Darwis St. Sinaro and Dt. Basa Caniago and Kaba Sutan Lembak Tuah versions of Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah.

Based on data analysis and discussion can be concluded as follows: first, there are social values in Kaba Angku Kapalo Sitalang and Kaba Sutan Lembak Tuah, including (1) material values, (2) vital values and (3) spiritual values consisting of truth values, the value of beauty, moral value, and religious value. Second, there were thirty social values in Angku Kapalo Sitalang, while there were thirty-five data in Sutan Lembak Tuah kaba.

The conclusion of this study shows that in the kaba Angku Kapalo Sitalang and kaba Sutan Lembak Tuah there is social value. Darwis St. Sinaro, Dt. Basa Caniago and Sjamsudin St. Radjo Endah in the kaba expresses social value through intrinsic and extrinsic elements.
