The Personality Development of Main Character and its Relation to Religious Values in Novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi

Abstrak

According to Minderop (2011: 54) literary psychology is believed to reflect processes and activities of mental. Psychology is a study of character and human nature, the object of psychology is human, while literature is also the case. Because psychology studies the human personality in a literary work and one human character or human nature has a development in his life. Personality development is a change in organization or behavior structure (Sujanto, et al. 2009: 88).

This research aims to describe: (1) the personality development of the main character in the novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi, (2) religious values in the novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi; (3) relation to religious values in the novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi. Data analysis is done by: 1) identifying data that has been found, namely the personality development of the main character and religious values in the novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi, (2) analyzing data relating to the research problem that is about the personality development of the main character and its relation to religious values in the novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi, (3) interpreting the relationship between the personality development of the main character in the novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi (4) concluding from the results of the analysis.

Based on data analysis and discussion, the following are found. First, the personality development of the main character if seen in: (a) a change in the variance of behavior, the main character used to have no spirit of nationalism, now has a spirit of nationalism, (b) changes in organization and structure of behavior, the main character used to have relationships with closest family, now the relationship is wide and adapting to others (c) expanding the arena of activity, he used to live in the village, now he moves to a big city and even abroad. (d) changes in the level of reality, he is aware of being the family breadwinner and he must not waste the opportunity that comes to him and always remember the message of the people around him, (e) differentiated behavior, before not being able to give money to Amak and his brother's school fees, now the main character gets a salary and can help his parents (f) development means stratification, he hides his feelings to his friends when they ask about work. Second, religious values of the main character can be seen in the value of (a) morality, he has a sense of responsibility and good personality, (b) aqidah, he always believes that every step he takes is always a god intervention, (c) sharia, he always do good to everyone, always help and also pray to God by praying so that all his affairs can be given fluency. The relation between the personality development of the main character and religious values is seen when the main character who always strives to pursue his goals and always prays to the God in the end results in extraordinary results.

                    The conclusion of this study found that the personality of the main character experienced development when viewed from the course of his life and every life journey experienced by the main character is inseparable from the belief in God Almighty, that everything that is done is God's intervention.
