Comparison of Students' Mathematics Learning Outcomes with Introverts and Extroverts in Class X MIPA SMAN 2 Padang

Abstrak

This research was motivated by the lack of teacher's attention regarding the importance of student personality, especially personality introvert and extrovert. In the learning process, often the teacher is not aware of these differences so that the treatment of students becomes less appropriate to his personality. Therefore, a study was conducted on the comparison of the results of learning mathematics of students withpersonality introverted and extroverted in class X MIPA of SMA 2 Padang.

This research is quantitative research. The research subjects were all students of class X MIPA 7, and the interview subjects were 5 students, consisting of 3 personality students introverted  and 2 students with personality extroverted. The instrument in this study is a questionnaire to determine the personality of students whether introverted or extroverted, a description test to see student learning outcomes and interviews to find out the causes of problems students who havepersonality introverted and extroverted to learning outcomes.

From the questionnaire data analysis, it was obtained students introverted that were 14 people or 41.17% while students with extroverted personality were 20 people or 58.82%, and the analysis of learning outcomes data was obtained at t'= 1.60 while with the real level α = 0 , 05 obtained -2.15 <1.60 <2.15 which means the learning outcomes of students with personality are the introverted same as students with personality extroverted in class X MIPA SMAN 2 Padang. From the average value of learning outcomes personality is introverted still low compared to students with personality extroverted. And the test results of personality are introverted only 6 people who complete.

From the analysis of interview data, it was found that students who personality introverted wanted more attention from the teacher. While students who have personality extroverted want to learn that are varied or not too menoton. It is recommended for teachers to better recognize the personality of students intovert and extrovert and approach the students, so that the teacher can guide students to find out more easily the causes of students' problems in learning in class. Because the way students learn in class will affect the learning outcomes. In addition, the teacher is more flexible in managing learning so that students who have personality introverted and extroverted get balanced attention.
