Analysis of Students' Mathematical Problem Solving Ability Based on Kolb Model Learning Styles in Class X MIPA SMA N 5 Solok Selatan
Abstrak
This research is based on students' mathematical problem-solving ability which is still relatively low. This can be seen from the results of the UAS score and the way students work on the given task, where in completing the task students are only able to understand the problem well, but not in planning the solution, so that students are unable to find the right solution. In addition, this research is motivated by various student learning styles.
This study aims to determine the classification of learning styles and descriptions of problem solving abilities based on learning styles. This research method is qualitative with the type of research is descriptive research. The study population was all students of class X MIPA SMA N 5 Solok Selatan. Sampling was based on purposive sampling technique with sample class namely class X MIPA 2. The research instrument was in the form of problem solving ability tests, Kolb model learning style questionnaires, and interviews.
Based on the research shows that the percentage of learning styles converger, diverger, accomondor, assimilator are 16%, 24%, 44%, 16% respectively. While the results of problem solving tests and interviewing students with diverger learning styles were not able to solve the problem correctly, students with converger learning styles were able to solve the problem solving until the check-back stage, students with assimilator learning styles were able to check again but not perfect, and students with accomondor learning styles are able to complete problem solving but do not check again. Based on the results of the study it was found that each learning style has different problem solving abilities
From the research results it is suggested to students to often work on problems in the form of problem solving and solve them based on Polya's problem solving stages. Because the Polya stage is clear and systematic, making it easier for students to find the right solution to the problem Key words: Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Kolb Model Learning Styles
