The Influence of the Application of the Type of Think Talk Write (TTW) Cooperative Learning Model on the Mathematical Communication Skill of Grade VIII Students of SMPN 40 Padang

Abstrak

This research is based on the background of students who are less able to explain ideas on mathematical problems both oral and written. Students also have difficulty in changing the description problem into a mathematical model. In order for students' mathematical communication skills to be better, a Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model is applied.

This type of research is experiment. All of grade VIII students of SMPN 40 Padang who were enrolled in 2018/2019 school year were the population of this study, while the research sample was the experimental class was VIII.2 and the control class was class VIII.1

The final data is the final test after the researcher has conducted learning for six meetings with students. The final test results of the experimental class are as good as the control class. This is evidenced by testing the hypothesis with the t test obtained by t(0.95; 55) = 2.005 while tcount = -0.97. So tcoun ≤  t(0.95; 55) so that it can be concluded that the H0 hypothesis is accepted, meaning that the students' communication ability to learn with the TTW model is as good as learning to implement ordinary learning.

From the results, it is suggested that the TTW model can be applied by mathematics teachers in learning and study it more broadly until the TTW model can improve student communication skills.
