The Influence of Explicit Instruction Learning Model (Direct Teaching) on Learning Outcomes of Indonesian Language of 4th Grade Students in SDN 29
Abstrak
This research is motivated by low student learning outcomes, lack of students' interest and motivation in speaking in front of the class so that it affects the learning outcomes. It requires teachers to improve the learning process by applying Explicit Instruction learning model (Direct Teaching). This study aims to know the influence of Explicit Instruction learning model (Direct Teaching) on learning outcomes of Indonesian language of 4th grade students in SDN 29 Purus Padang.
This is an experimental research by using true-experimental designwhich is Intact-Group Comparison. The population of this research is 40 students who are all fourth grade students of SDN 29 Purus Padang. Sampling technique used is Total Sampling. The determination of experimental class and control class is conducted by lottery. Class IV B is an experimental class with 19 students and class IV A is the control class with 21 students. The data collected in this study are the data of learning result test, attitude assessment, and skill assessment.
Result of data analysis obtained for the test of cognitive learning outcomes by using t-test shows that  = 2,27 and = 2,02 which means that > and the hypothesis is accepted. Then, the affective assessment of experimental class with total =77,19% and control class = 47, 91%. Furthermore, from data analysis of students' psychomotor learning outcomes, it is found that  = 2,25 and = 2,02 which means that >and the hypothesis is accepted.
Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that there is the influence of Explicit Instruction learning model (Direct Teaching) on the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning outcomes of 4th grade students in SDN 29 Purus Padang. Therefore, Explicit Instruction model can be applied in improving learning outcomes of Indonesian language in accordance with the Minimum Exhaustiveness Criteria (KKM) established.
