Character Education in the Mathematics Learning Process in Class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Panti Pasaman,

Abstrak

Character education needs to be carried out by maximizing the role of the school. The school is asked to be able to collaborate with family and community, in order of character values for students as future successors of the nation. SMP N 1 Panti Pasaman home is implementing or building character, such as the school culture itself even in some subjects.

This research has been using descriptive research. Data collection methods used are observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Responden include math subject teachers, and students in grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Panti Pasaman. The instruments has been using observation guidelines, questionnaire guidelines, and interview.

The results showed that the implementation of character values in mathematics learning in grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Panti Pasaman institution was carried out on grades 1) Discipline 2) Honest 3) Creative 4) Hard Work 5) Communicative 6) Self, and 7) Responsibility. Character education in mathematics learning in grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Panti Pasaman institution is applied by integrating character values into curriculum content that has been formulated into learning, especially in RPP. Integration of character education in the mathematics learning process in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Panti Pasaman institution is carried out starting from the planning, implementation and learning evaluations..

From the results it is recommended that you develop an assessment of the character values that have been instilled by the teacher in the process of learning mathematics. This assessment of the character values to purpose of teacher aware of the development of behavior for certain values that have been owned by students. Teachers and parents must also be good examples for their children. The purpose of character education will not be achieved if there is no collaboration between all components of society.
