Abstrak

This research is motivated by student’s learning outcomes based on the percentage value of even semester VII grade VII student’s of SMP 29 Padang in the academic year 2017/2018, most of which have not yet reached the minimum completeness criteria. In accordance with the background of the problem, the learning process in the classroom is still centered on the teacher, the lack of student’s response in the interaction of student’s with the teacher and between student’s, the difficulty of student’s in determining the steps for solving problems. One solution to this problem is to implement the Means Ends Analysis (MEA) learning model. The type of research used is experiment. The population studied was grade VIII student’s of SMP 29 Padang in the 2018/2019 school year. The sample studied was class VIII.9 which became the experimental class with 29 student’s, and class VIII.8 which became the control class with 28 student’sApplying MEA learning models, the percentage of student’s who do activities in the learning process tends to increase, although at some meetings the percentage of student’s doing activities is still the same as the previous meeting. Based on data analysis of students' mathematics learning outcomes in the sample class, with the average difference test with level  obtained  and  so reject  Therefore, student’s learning outcomes that apply MEA learning models are better than those that apply ordinary learning. Based on these conclusions, the researcher advises that mathematics teachers can apply the MEA learning model as a form of effort to make student’s more active, and can make student’s learning outcomes better Keywords: Means Ends Analysis (MEA), mathematics learning outcomes,   student’s activities
