Application of Quick on The Draw Technique in Grade IX Student Mathematics Learning at SMPN 29 Padang

Abstrak

The low level of mathematics learning outcomes of grade IX students of SMPN 29 Padang is the background of researchers to conduct research by applying learning techniques, that will arouse students’ interest in solving problems, so as to obtain good learning outcomes. One of the learning techniques that will affect student learning outcomes is Quick on The Draw Learning Techniques (TQD). Learning with the Quick on The Draw techniques is a learning that provides a challenge with competition between groups to solve questions on the question card.

Research method was an experiment. The population are all grade IX students at SMPN 29 Padang in the school year 2018/2019 which consisted of eight classes. There are two classes become the sample classe, namely the experimental class and control class. The sample is class IX.2 as an experimental class and class IX.3 as a control class.

Based on data analysis of students’ mathematics learning, the avarage difference test with a level of . Obtained   = 1,7013 and = 1,6735 , meaning , then the hypothesis is accepted.

In line with the findings of this research, concluded that learning outcomes of students whose applying TQD are better than the learning outcomes of students whose applying expository methods. Dealing with that conclusion, it is  suggested to the mathematics teachers can apply learning techniques of Quick on The Draw in mathematics learning as one of the efforts to obtain the better students learning outcome.
