Application of Cooperative Learning Model Type Co-op Co-op on Understanding of Mathematical Concepts of Eight Grade Student, Pembangunan Middle School Padang State University Laboratory, Academic Year 2018/2019

Abstrak

The low results of students' mathematics learning is due to the ongoing learning process that is still teacher-centered and students' difficulties in determining what concepts are used when faced with questions related to the material. To overcome this problem, one of the efforts taken was to implement a cooperative learning model of the Co-op Co-op type. This learning begins with the provision of material by the teacher, then to increase students' understanding of the material, students are placed in groups to discuss topics that have been provided by the teacher. Thus, students will be able to understand mathematical concepts well.

The research used is experimental type. The population in the study were 8th grade students of UNP Laboratory Development Middle School 2018/2019 academic year which consisted of six classes. The sample of the research is experimental class and control class, the are VIII.B class and VIII.C class. The sample choose by randomly with using sweeptakes.

The data in this study were students' mathematics learning outcomes obtained from the final test in both sample classes. To test the hypothesis, one-way anava technique were used. From the calculation, it is found that t count with tcount = 2.17 and ttable = 1.67 and the level α = 0.05 so that it rejects H0. So, understanding the mathematical concepts of students applying the Co-op Co-op cooperative learning model is better than understanding students' mathematical concepts by applying ordinary.

From the results of research was recommended that in the process of learning mathematics can apply the cooperative learning model of the Co-op Co-op type to make the students understand of mathematical concepts.
