Susanto (2014: 183) explains that. Mathematics is one of the disciplines that
can improve the ability to think and argue, contribute to solving everyday problems
and in the world of work, and provide support in the development of science and
technology . However, based on the observations at Surau Gadang Elementary School
13, the method used by the teacher in the learning process is the lecture method,
question and answer and assignment so that the activeness of students to ask
questions and answer in learning is not optimal. Therefore, one solution to improve
student learning outcomes, namely by using the Peer Tutor learning model in the
Mathematics learning process.
The type of research used is experimental research. The population of this
study were all sixth grade students of SDN 13 Surau Gadang as many as 61 students,
divided into two groups namely VIA class and VIB class. By using the total sampling
technique, the VIA class is obtained as the control class and VIB is the experimental
class. The data analyzed in this study is the mathematics learning outcomes score on
cognitive aspects collected through objective tests and descriptions..
The results of data analysis by testing the hypothesis using the t-test, obtained
t count = 7.427 and t table = 2.001, so that t count> t table so that H1 is accepted and
H0 is rejected, which means that there is an influence of Peer Tutor learning model
on the results of mathematics learning in the sixth grade students of SDN 13 Surau
Gadang. Based on the results of the research obtained, it can be concluded that there
is an influence of Peer Tutor learning model on the results of Mathematics learning in
the sixth grade students of SDN 13 Surau Gadang so that this model can be applied
and developed to achieve optimal learning outcomes in the school.
