This research is motivated by the low level of student learning activities in
Indonesian language learning at SDN 04 Pasa Gadang Padang Selatan Padang,
marked by the low student learning outcomes under KKM, namely 75.
This study aims to describe the increase in student activity and speaking
skills using the Bamboo Dancing method. This research is a Class Action
Research (CAR). Data obtained during the research process were analyzed
qualitatively and quantitatively. Data were obtained by using teacher activity
observation sheets, student learning activity observation sheets, and speaking skill
sheets at the end of each cycle. The results showed an increase in learning
activities which can be seen from the results of the observation sheet of student
learning activities, namely an increase of 40.73%, increasing from 37.65 in the
first cycle to 78.38% in the second cycle.
The improvement of students' speaking skills can be seen from the increase
in the average value of students from 73.99 in the first cycle increased to 77.60 in
the second cycle. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that
the activities and Indonesian speaking skills of class I students of SDN 04 Pasa
Gadang Padang can be improved through the Bamboo Dancing method. For this
reason, it is expected that educators, especially primary school teachers, can use
the Bamboo Dancing method which is an innovation in carrying out learning.
