This research is motivated by the lack of speaking skills of fourth grade
students at SDN 08 Ulakan Tapakis, Padang Pariaman Regency. This is caused by the
presentation of the material delivered by the teacher monotonous and only centered
on the teacher and does not involve students as well as the limitations of the learning
media used by the teacher to assist the learning process which results in low
questioning skills, answering questions, expressing opinions and concluding lessons.
Therefore, the researcher tried to use a method that can improve students' speaking
skills by using an articulation model.
The purpose of this study was to describe the improvement of the skills of
fourth grade students in speaking in front of the class on Ind onesian language
learning at SDN 08 Ulakan Tapakis by using an articulation model. This research was
carried out in the even semester of 2018/2019 school year with material in line with
the curriculum and syllabus on Indonesian language learning. This research was
carried out at SDN 08 Ulakan Tapakis.
This research uses Classroom Action Research. Classroom action research
consists of four components, namely: planning, action, observation / observation, and
reflection. This study consists of two cycles, each cycle c onsisting of two learning.
Data collection in this study uses teacher observation sheets, student observation
sheets and items.
Based on the results of the study showed an increase in the indicators of
success from cycle I to cycle II, in the first cycle c an be seen the average value of
students' skills in speaking 73.8 and an increase in cycle II to 87.92. By increasing the
students' skills in speaking on Indonesian language learning, the results of the
student's final cycle test results with an average sc ore of 72.77 in the first cycle, to
86.66 in the second cycle. Based on the results of the research, it was concluded that
using the Articulation model can improve the skills of fourth grade students in
speaking, especially in Indonesian language learning at SD N 08 Ulakan Tapakis,
Padang Pariaman Regency.
