This research was motivated by a learning process that was still teacher-centered, lack
of use of instructional media, students' attention to learning was still low and students often
ask for permission to leave the classroom during the learning process so that it influences
student learning outcomes. Low student learning outcomes require teachers to improve the
learning process, one way to apply the Talking Stick type cooperative learning model. This
study aims to determine the effect of Talking Stick type cooperative learning model on
science learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SDN 05 Petok Pasaman, which seen at
the cognitive aspects of knowledge and understand of student.
The type of research was experimental research. The population of study was the fifth
grade students of SDN 05 Petok Panti Pasaman Regency with a total of 55 people with a
sample of all students. the sampling of Data was carried out used a random sampling
technique. The selection of the experimental class and the control class was done randomly,
so the VA class was obtained as the experiment and the VB class was the control. The
instrument used to collect student learning outcomes data with multiple choice test types. It
was found that there were 27 valid questions out of 40 total questions and the reliability
index of this test was 0, 941 which meant that the instrument was very reliable.
This test uses normality test and homogeneity test of each method of kolmogorovSmirnov method which the same as the liliefors method and homogeneity used the same
levene as barllet. This test shows that the data was normal and homogeneous so that the
hypothesis test uses the T-test. The results of this test are t count> t table 3.971> 2,000 with
α = 0.05 which means that Ho is rejected. So that HI was accepted, that there was a
difference in the application of the Talking Stick type cooperative learning model for
student learning outcomes in science learning, class V SDN 05 Petok ,Panti District
Pasaman Regency.
In line with the findings of this study as discussed above, it can be concluded that
students who get good learning, if the teacher uses many variations of learning models.
