Mathematics learning is a teaching and learning process built by the
teacher to develop students 'creative thinking that can improve students' thinking
skills, and can improve the ability to construct new knowledge as an effort to
improve good mastery of mathematics material (Susanto 2013:186 -187). Based on
observations in class III SD Negeri 108 / VIII Sarimulya, students were seen to be
less active in asking questions about the material being studied. When the teacher
asks students to answer students 'questions more silently, and when the teacher
gives training, there are still many students who follow the example of their
friends' answers. Therefore, one solution to improve student activity and learning
outcomes, namely by using the Project Based Learning model in the process of
learning mathematics.
The type of research used was experimental research with the population
of this study were all students in grade III SDN 108 / VIII Sarimulya as many as
44 students who were divided into two classes, namely class IIIA and class IIIB.
While the sample in this study was conducted using the Total Sampling technique,
and obtained class IIIA as the control class and IIIB as the experimental class. The
data analyzed in this study were students' mathematics learning activities collected
through observation sheets and mathematics learn ing outcomes on cognitive
aspects collected through objective tests and descriptions.
The results obtained from the development of student learning activities
can be said to be quite good with an average percentage of 68.17%. The results of
data analysis by testing the hypothesis using the t-test obtained t count = 4.403
and t(0,05;42)
= 2,018. So t count > t(0,05;42)
then the hypothesis is accepted that the
Project Based Learning Model has an effect on the mathematics learning
outcomes of grade III students of SD Negeri 108 / VIII Sarimulya.
Based on the results of the research obtained, it can be concluded that
there is an effect of the Project Based Learning model on students' activities and
mathematics learning outcomes. For that the Project Based Learning model can be
applied when implementing the mathematics learning process.
