This research was motivated by the difficulty of class II students of SDN 01 V
Koto Kampung Dalam in learning mathematics about learning arithmetic operations,
especially material reduction. This is caused by the presentation of the material
presented by the teacher is not realistic and only centered on the teacher and does not
involve students and the limitations of the learning media used by the teacher to help
the learning process which results in low student mathematics learning outcomes.
Therefore the researchers tried to use a realistic mathematics education approach to
improve the learning outcomes of class II students of SDN 01 V Koto Kampung
Dalam.
The purpose of this study was to describe the improvement of class II student
learning outcomes in mathematics learning through a realistic mathematical education
approach to calculating operations in class II SDN 01 V Koto Kampung Dalam
Padang Pariaman District. This research was carried out in the even semester of
2018/2019 school year with material in line with the curriculum and syllabus on
mathematics learning. This research was conducted in Class II SDN 01 V Koto
Kampung Dalam.
This research uses Classroom Action Research. Classroom action research
consists of four components, namely: planning, action, observation / observation, and
reflection. This study consists of two cycles, each cycle consisting of two learning.
Data collection in this study uses teacher observation sheets, student observation
sheets and items.
Results of the study showed an increase in indicators of success from cycle I
to cycle II, in the first cycle can be seen the average value of 72.00 student learning
outcomes with 47% classical completeness percentage, and increased in the second
cycle to 82.66 with the percentage of classical completeness 80%. Based on the
results of the study, it was concluded that using realistic mathematics education
learning methods could improve students' mathematics learning outcomes, especially
grade II students of SDN 01 V Koto Kampung Dalam.
