Abstrak

The research on the back by low student achievement in social studies, it is because the teacher always use the conventional method of lecturing, not using appropriate learning model with the purpose of learning. Formulation of the problem of this research is How improving student learning outcomes in the fourth grade social studies lesson using the word square models in SDN 08 Batang Lolo South Solok? The purpose of this study was to describe the improvement of student learning outcomes at the fourth grade social studies lesson using a model of word square in SDN 08 Batang Lolo South Solok. This research is a classroom action research conducted participants, the study was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. The subjects were fourth graders totaling 17 people. The research instrument used was a student test results, observation of student activity sheets, and teacher observation sheet activities. Based on the test results of students in the first cycle mastery learning students 35.2%, while in the second cycle increased to 88.2%. While the activity of teachers increased from 55% in the first cycle to 89.99% in the second cycle. From these results, the authors suggest that teachers can use the word square models to improve student learning outcomes.
