Abstrak

The purposeofthis study was to determinethe effectiveness of the use of mediaPowerPoint in teaching biology on student learning to cognitive outcomes, affective and psychomotor
aspects. Thisresearch is experimentalresearch use ofRandomizedControlGroupPost-test OnlyDesign. The population inthis study were all eighth grade studentsenrolled Padang SMP 12in the academic year 2012/2013arescatteredin the9th grade. Togetasampleclass
researchers usedpurposivesamplingtechniques anddetermination ofexperimental classand
the control class bythe Random is obtained class experimentVIII5
andclass controlVIII7

The results showedthat the average values obtained experimental class 77.96whilethe
control class is 52.92. To test the hypothesis by using the U-test and the normal
approximation Zthen obtained values Zarithmetic =3.477andZtable
=1,6with asignificant
standart (α =0.05) it’s meansZarithmetic>Ztable
and there is effectiveness use of media
PowerPointin teaching biologyto class VIIIstudent learning outcomes in Junior High
School 12Padang. On the rated affective and psychomotor domains in both classes of
samples showed that the experimental class to the affective domain obtainedaverage of
85.94%higher than in thecontrol classis74.67%.Andpsychomotorobservationsobtainedin
the experimental class persentasen average of 82.62%and74.45%control class. If the
criteria associated with effective assessment and psychomotor effectiveness predefined
criteria then the experimental class had very high, while thecontrol class has a high
effectiveness criteria. From thedata analysis, it can be concluded that the use of media
PowerPointin teaching biologyeffectively tostudent learning outcomesandstudent learning
activities.
