Interest in Class XII Students of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping To Continue Study to Higher Education Levels

Abstrak

Education is held as a process of civilizing and empowering students that lasts a lifetime. Therefore this makes it possible for vocational students to continue their education to the tertiary level. The purpose of this study was to describe the factors that caused the interest of class XII students of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping to continue their studies to tertiary institutions in 2018. This research was descriptive with a population of 355 students while a sample of 96 students. Primary data is obtained through questionnaires distributed to students and secondary data obtained from existing data. The results of the study show that the factors causing the interest of vocational students to continue their education to tertiary institutions are high. Self-motivation factor with mean 3.83, socio-economic factors with mean 3.7, peer environmental factors with mean 3.8, and parent education factors with mean 3.9 in 2018. It can be concluded that the interest of students of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping to continue their studies to the level tertiary institutions are high. It is expected that schools can provide information to students about fiminati universities so that students do not go wrong in choosing further studies.
