Application of Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) Learning Model on Mathematics Learning of Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 15 Padang

Abstrak

This research is motivated by student learning activities and student learning outcomes based on the percentage of the Even Semester test scores of class VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Padang, 2017/2018Academic Year. The low mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Padang are one of them caused by learning that is still centered on the teacher and lack of student activities in the learning process. To overcome this, one of the efforts made is to implement the Missouri Mathematics Project Learning Model.

The type of research conducted is experimental research. The population in this study were VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 15 Padang in the 2017/2018 academic year consisting of eight classes. The sample class consists of two classes namely the experimental class and the control class. Sampling was done by random sampling, and the selected class was VIII.4 as the experimental class and class VIII.8 as the control class.

Based on the analysis of data from the activities of students applying the Missouri Mathematics Projectlearning model, student activity tends to increase from each meeting and based on students' mathematics learning outcomes data in the sample class, with an average difference test with a level of α = 0.05. obtained tcounted >t(0.95; 57) which is 4.332> 1.683 so that the proposed hypothesis is accepted. Thus it can be concluded that the mathematics learning outcomes of students whose learning applies the Missouri Mathematics Project model are better than the results of mathematics learning of students who apply ordinary learning.

From the results of this study, researchers suggest that mathematics teachers can apply the Missouri Mathematics Project in mathematics learning as an effort to make learning more active and can make student learning outcomes better.
