The Application of Active Learning Type LearningTournament Strategies to Activities and Student Learning Outcomes in Mathematics Learning Class IX Students of Junior High School 15 Padang.

Abstrak

The background of this research is that there are still students who do not take lessons seriously, the low activity of students in the learning process, students' mathematics learning outcomes are still much below the minimum criteria of mastery learning. The way that can be done to overcome this is one of them is to apply the learning strategy above.

All class IX students of junior high school 15 Padang in the 2018/2019 school year became the population in this study. Samples were taken randomly by using lots and having homogeneous completeness, where the first class was chosen as the experimental class, namely class IX.1 and the class chosen later as the control class namely class IX.3.

The instruments of this study were observation activity sheets and learning outcomes tests. Data from the activity observation sheet found that the number of students conducting activities increased in each meeting and learning outcomes data were obtained from the final test in the sample class, with the test obtained , with db = 1 and α = 0 , 05 and means , so the hypothesis H0 is rejected and the hypothesisH1 is accepted. The conclusion is the proportion of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics who learn to use the active learning type Learning Tournament strategy higher than the proportion of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics with ordinary learning.

The conclusion of this study is the proportion of students doing activities has increased and the proportion of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics is higher. from the results of this study, suggestions from researcher so that mathematics teachers can apply active learning strategies that researcher carefully study in mathematics as an effort to make student learning outcomes better.
