The Application of the ARIAS Learning Model in Mathematics Learning for Class VIII Students of SMPN 31 Padang
Abstrak
This research is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students of SMPN 31 Padang because the learning process is still centered on the teacher, students are less active during the learning process, students just sit quietly and listen to explanations from the teacher, causing the teacher's role to be very active and instead students become passive so that students' abilities cannot develop optimally.To overcome this problem, one of the efforts made is to apply the ARIAS learning model.
The type of research used is experimental research.The population in this study was all eighth grade students of SMPN 31 Padang in academic year 2018/2019 which consisted of eight classes.The sample class consisted of the experimental class and the control class. For sampling, two random classes were taken which had similarities on average, and the selected class was class VIII.4 as the experimental class and class VIII.5 as the control class.
Based on the analysis of data from student learning outcomes that apply the ARIAS learning model, using hypothesis testing with a level of confidence α = 0.05, obtained tcount = 4.26 and t (0.95; 60) = 1.67, means t(0.95;60) tcount so that the research hypothesis is accepted. Thus it can be concluded that the mathematics learning outcomes of students who apply the ARIAS learning model are better than the mathematics learning outcomes of students whose learning uses conventional learning.
From the results of the study it is suggested that further researchers are expected to further optimize the stages of the ARIAS learning model that has not been implemented so that it can provide good results.
