Application of Peer Lesson Type Active Learning Strategies to Learning Class VIII Students of 26 Public Junior High School Padang. Essay. Mathematics Education, Bung Hatta University
Abstrak
The low mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII SMP 26 Padang is one of them caused by learning that is still centered on the teacher and lack of student activity in the learning process. To overcome this problem, one of the efforts made is to implement a peer type active learning strategy lesson. Peer lesson is a strategy that places all responsibility for teaching students as class members. Students are required to learn independently and be able to explain material to their friends in groups, so that the teacher is only a facilitator that helps the learning process run. With the implementation of this strategy, it is expected to improve student learning outcomes because this strategy is used to engage students in the learning process actively from the beginning to the end of learning.results learn studentsbecause strategy this used for involving students in process learning in a manner active from early to end learning.
The type of research conducted is experimental research. The population in the study was class VIII SMP 26 Padang consisting of 8 classes but researchers only observed in 5 classes due to the policy given by the principal that only one teacher was the guiding teacher in this study and the teacher taught in class VIII-3, VIII-4, VIII-5, VIII-6, and VIII-7. The sample in this study was class VIII.5 as the experimental class and class VIII.3 as the control class. Sampling is done by random sampling technique using lottery or lot.
The data in this study are the results of student mathematics learning from the final test of both sample classes. For hypothesis testing, one-way ANOVA technique is used. From the calculation, it is obtained that t count > t table with t count = 2.07 and t table = 1.67 with a real level α = 0.05, then the hypothesis H_0: μ_1 = μ_2 is rejected. So that the mathematics learning outcomes of students who are learning to apply active learning strategies to peer lesson types are better than the mathematics learning outcomes of students who use ordinary learning.
From the results of the study it is recommended that it is better in the learning process of mathematics to apply this learning strategy so that students are active in the learning process and increase students' willingness to teach the material to their friends.
