Development of Assessment Instrument HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skill) in Ratio Subjects in Class VII Students of SMP Negeri 10 Padang. Thesis, Mathematics Education, Bung Hatta University
Abstrak
According to Taksonomi Bloom Revised in Edi (2014), cognitive processes are divided into lower order thinking skill (Lower Order Thinking) and higher order thinking skill (Higher Order Thinking). To improve students thinking skill for the better and are able to think critically and creatively can be done by giving problems with the category of higher order thinking, so students can practice with these questions.
The population in this research were all class VII students of SMP Negeri 10 Padang in the year 2017/2018. The sample in this research a class that is superior from the academic side is class VIII.A with the goal that the questions given are able to be mastered by students.
The instruments in this research were test of higher order thinking skill and interviews. Essay test consisted of 8 questions and were validated by validators using the Aiken’s V formula. The researchers conduct interviews to 6 students (2 higher order thinking, 2 middle order thinking, and 2 lower order thinking) with different cognitive processes category.
This research uses the steps of development according to Sugiyono. This research resulted in quality assessment instruments.
